Anumita Roychowdhury serves as the Executive Director of Research and Advocacy at the Centre for Science and Environment in India. Her work focuses on sustainable urbanization, specifically clean air initiatives, low-carbon transportation, and resilient urban habitats. She has led policy research and advocacy campaigns in these areas, helping to develop multi-sector climate and clean air strategies for implementation in various cities and states in India. To foster cross-learning in the Global South, she also collaborates with African cities to support their transition toward clean air and low-carbon pathways. She has played an active role in several national and global environmental forums, official committees, and global platforms on clean air and climate change strategies. She has authored numerous articles, policy research papers, and books. She is a recipient of the Haagen-Smit Clean Air Award from the California Air Resources Board.
