Crystal ball reader (aka Data Science Assistant)
About the Organization:
Takachar helps reduce the impacts of climate change. We have created a small-scale, low-cost, portable machine that can be loaded into the back of tractors and deployed to farms turning crop waste into sellable bioproducts like fuel and fertilizer.Our innovative cost-effective system broadens smallholder farmers' livelihood and business prospects with the generation of additional income through selling these on-demand bioproducts on the market. The impact? Income and job creation in rural areas, mitigation of CO2 emission and air pollution as well as improved vegetation management mitigating the risks of catastrophic wildfires. We have been recognized for our work through awards such as Elon Musk’s XPRIZE Carbon Removal, Prince William’s inaugural Earthshot Prize, and the Keeling Curve (Climate Curve) Prize.
Fellowship Description:
Through the operation of our reactor prototypes, we have collected significant amounts of data of different forms which can be used to predict impending failures and improve/optimize our operations. As such, we have various data science and machine learning projects looking into different aspects of our work. Under the supervision of the Data Scientist you will work alongside other data scientists throughout the world to solve complex technical and business problems by providing solutions, using advanced data analysis techniques.
Responsibilities:
Implementing new machine learning initiatives
Scoping out overall project requirements
Instrumenting the reactor prototypes for satisfactory data collection
Selecting the right dimensional reduction and machine learning (ML) models/approaches for a specific problem/objective
Validating that the ML models perform as required in the field.
Qualifications:
Prior experience applying machine learning techniques towards product development
Prior experience managing data science / machine learning projects of moderate complexity
Prior experience with sensors and instrumentation needed to collect data needed for machine learning strongly preferred (e.g. Alexa, smart air conditioning or laundry machines, electric vehicles).
