10Power is a social impact enterprise that works with frontline communities to build, own and operate renewable energy infrastructure for climate justice. We are driven by the goal of 100% renewables for 100% of humanity and use a community-led approach to implementation. For over a decade, our work has promoted energy access, sovereignty, and innovation. We provide project development, grantwriting and financing strategy, and partnership-building services to local partners within the US and internationally. We are a woman and BIPOC-led organization with a small, dynamic team, many of whom started out as Fellows. This is a fast-paced internship where you will be encouraged to take initiative, elevate marketable skills, and build strong working relationships.
Fellowship Description:
As a Junior Grants Coordinator, you will work closely with the Grants Manager. You will have the opportunity to quickly grow your professional skills and excel as part of a non-hierarchical team. We are looking for a dedicated individual ready to learn and make a meaningful contribution. The main tasks you will be responsible for include but are not limited to:
- Supporting application workflow through to submission and assisting with grantwriting; Creating templates, drafting project narratives, proofreading, creating project budgets, gathering supporting documents, filling out forms
- Researching state, philanthropic, and international grant opportunities focused on energy innovation, renewables, climate resilience, and sustainable development; managing funding pipeline spreadsheet
- Actively communicating with the 10Power team in meetings and asynchronously, participating in meetings with project partners, taking meeting minutes
- Researching alternative funding pathways, potential project investors and collaborators, and new opportunities for 10Power’s various initiatives
- Assisting with management and reporting for awarded grants
- Maintaining progress across multiple workflows, keeping work folders organized, tracking action items and ensuring deadlines are met
Qualifications:
You have:
* Completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
* Have at least 1 year of work or volunteer experience involving relevant transferable skills (such as business administration, writing, desk research, or program coordination)
* Excellent writing skills
* Strong online research skills
* Excellent attention to detail and organization
* Excellent communication, team collaboration, and external outreach skills
* Proactive quick learner able to take initiative and work independently
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, quickly adapt to evolving priorities, and consistently follow through on responsibilities
* Working knowledge of energy poverty and equity, renewable energy technology (particularly solar, battery storage, minigrids), and passion for climate and social justice
* Desire and preparedness to build your career in energy justice, grantwriting, and/or sustainable development
* Familiar with Slack, Google Drive, OneDrive
* You will need to have your own remote set up (computer and reliable internet access)
* Reliably able to join daytime meetings in Pacific (UTC-8/-7) and Eastern (UTC-5/-4) Time zones
* Available to commit to proposed weekly hours for the full duration of the fellowship period
All candidates selected to interview for this position will be asked to provide a writing sample.
Time Commitment: 15 hours per week
