ElectricFish

ML and Optimization Engineering Fellow

About the Organization:

ElectricFish builds battery-integrated DC fast chargers that deliver 400kW from a 30kW grid connection — putting fast charging at sites where a utility upgrade would otherwise take years. The hardware works and is deployed; the open question is commercial.

Fellowship Description:

At ElectricFish, we are transforming how energy flows through the grid. Stargazer is our core optimization pipeline that determines how our battery energy storage system (BESS) stores, dispatches, and exports energy every single day. As a Software Engineer on Stargazer, you will build the production systems and tooling that lead to algorithm improvements. You will also work on the software that surrounds Stargazer in production: Python services, benchmarking, data pipelines, CI/CD, and customer facing front-end. This role offers a high level of autonomy and ownership, backed by a highly collaborative team always eager to help.

Qualifications:

Desired:

-Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

-Strong proficiency in Python and Linux

-Experience building and shipping production software and/or internal developer tooling—services, pipelines, evaluation systems, or automation with real users

-Experience using AI tools to build engineering tooling and workflows

-Experience with cloud and data technologies such as Azure, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD -Experience owning complex production software through design, implementation, debugging, and operation—where correctness, performance, and maintainability matter

-Experience with production systems that have real integration, reliability, or performance constraints preferred

-Experience with energy systems

Time Commitment: 30 hours per week
