About the Organization:
Waste Warriors is a non-profit organization focused on transforming solid waste management systems across ecologically sensitive Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). We build community-led, sustainable, and scalable waste management models through community engagement, institutional partnerships, technology integration, and government support. We work in 10+ locations focusing on climate change mitigation through waste diversion and behaviour change towards waste.
Fellowship Description:
Waste Warriors is seeking a Fellow to support research and innovation in decentralized wet waste management and composting systems. The Fellow will evaluate composting technologies and operational models, document best practices, and assess their role in methane mitigation, resource recovery, and zero waste systems. The work will include developing practical approaches for methane accounting, evaluating the climate benefits of decentralized organic waste management, and creating technical guidance to improve the efficiency, scalability, and sustainability of composting systems.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD student in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Waste Management, Agriculture, Sustainability, Climate Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of composting, decentralized organic waste management, methane mitigation, or circular economy.
- Familiarity with emissions estimation, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), or environmental monitoring is desirable.
- Strong research, analytical, and technical writing skills.
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
