Communications and Social Media Fellow
About the Organization
Our Climate Education Fund empowers young people to advocate for science-based, equitable climate policies at the local, state, and national levels. Through fellowships, leadership training, and civic engagement programs, we equip youth with the skills and resources needed to participate in democratic decision-making and advance climate justice solutions.
Fellowship Description:
We are looking for someone passionate about the climate crisis to work with our team in producing content that empowers and educates youth about the climate crisis. We want someone creative, who likes talking and learning about the environment to create videos on a variety of topics, all targeted towards youth interested in learning about the climate crisis. The Communications and Social Media Intern will assist the Communications Team in a variety of projects to raise Our Climate’s online profile, share the impact of our youth leaders’ work, and raise awareness of climate justice issues and solutions in an accessible, engaging format on Instagram reels and Tiktok. This is a part-time, fully remote position.
Content creation:
Draft scripts for short, informative, and attention-grabbing social media videos
Create engaging video content for Instagram reels and TikTok that highlights Our Climate’s campaigns including: Carbon Dioxide Removal, Resilience as
Resistance
Help in developing a reliable, consistent presence and content strategy on TikTok and other social media platforms
Create engaging video content for Instagram reels and TikTok that highlights various intersectional environmental justice topics
Social media strategy + management:
Collaborate with the Communications Team on Communications and Digital
Campaign plans and provide recommendations to improve Our Climate’s social media strategy
Work with Our Climate’s network of student leaders to create content that highlights Fellow’s work
Collaborate with the Fellowship Coordinator to engage and partner with influencers
Follow and participate in social media trends and climate justice news
Intern Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be the ultimate team player, results and impact oriented, and dedicated to our mission. They will resonate with our organizational culture values and be dedicated to advancing equity. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the following:
Knowledge and experience in communicating intersectional climate and social justice topics for a youth audience
Experience in content creation for social media
Demonstrated experience growing a tiktok account’s presence and following
A passion for climate and social justice and knack for following social media trends and buzz
A results-driven, self-motivated candidate who can take initiative and work independently
Time Commitment: 15-20 hours / week
