About the Organization
Solar Sister is an organization dedicated to empowering women and addressing energy poverty in last-mile communities by recruiting, training, and supporting women to become entrepreneurs in the clean energy sector. When empowered female entrepreneurs bring affordable, clean energy products to their communities, livelihoods are improved thanks to regular access to energy, and the effects of climate change are mitigated while CO2 emissions are reduced. Women gain footing on which to build a more equitable future for themselves and their families. Since its inception, Solar Sister has supported more than 11,000 women across Africa who have reached over 5 million people with life-changing renewable energy products
Fellowship Description:
Position Description: The person in this position will work closely with both the Development and Communications Managers to support Solar Sister’s development initiatives and donor development. This person will gain insight into quality development planning
Responsibilities include:
- Clean-up Salesforce donor entries and fill gaps in data that has not been entered in Salesforce but exists in other places
- Update donor entries including notes, contact information, giving history, etc. to ensure accurate and timely tracking of contributions and engagement.
- Assist with donor acknowledgements and simple mailings
- Assist in project management for a variety of fundraising initiatives.
- Support basic research on prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors aligned with Solar Sister’s mission.
- Assist in social media account management and communications keywording endeavors
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate within the last 2 years
- Interest in nonprofit work, fundraising, communications, or administration
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and data entry
- Passion for gender equity, sustainability, and global development.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and across time zones as part of a global team.
- Experience with Salesforce or another database is helpful, but not required
- Familiarity with fundraising, social media, and content management systems (Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva, etc.) helpful, but not required
Time Commitment: 30 hours / week
