About the Organization:
Waste Warriors is a non-profit organization focused on transforming solid waste management systems across ecologically sensitive Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). We build community-led, sustainable, and scalable waste management models through community engagement, institutional partnerships, technology integration, and government support. We work in 10+ locations focusing on climate change mitigation through waste diversion and behaviour change towards waste.
Fellowship Description:
Waste Warriors is seeking a Fellow to strengthen its climate impact measurement and carbon accounting capabilities for decentralized solid waste management systems. The Fellow will support the development of GHG accounting methodologies (Scope 1, 2 & 3), evaluate carbon accounting tools such as SWEET, EPA WARM, EQT, and similar platforms, develop emission factors, and create practical frameworks to measure and report environmental impacts beyond emissions, including resource recovery and circularity.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD student in Environmental Engineering, Climate Science, Sustainability, Industrial Ecology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of GHG Protocol, IPCC Guidelines, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), or sustainability reporting.
- Experience with carbon accounting or emissions modelling tools is desirable.
- Strong analytical, research, and technical writing skills.
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
