About the Organization
Solar Sister is an organization dedicated to empowering women and addressing energy poverty in last-mile communities by recruiting, training, and supporting women to become entrepreneurs in the clean energy sector. When empowered female entrepreneurs bring affordable, clean energy products to their communities, livelihoods are improved thanks to regular access to energy, and the effects of climate change are mitigated while CO2 emissions are reduced. Women gain footing on which to build a more equitable future for themselves and their families. Since its inception, Solar Sister has supported more than 11,000 women across Africa who have reached over 5 million people with life-changing renewable energy products
Fellowship Description:
The person in this position will report to the CEO and support Solar Sister in developing a singular comprehensive guidebook for Solar Staff that covers all Solar Sister’s key programs and compiles existing relevant information into a single place. This position will have the opportunity to gain skills in program management, program documentation, training and staff support practices, and institution knowledge efforts.
Responsibilities include:
- With guidance, identify Solar Sister’s priority core programs
- Conduct research to find internal documents relating to Solar Sister’s key programs
- Review all materials to identify gaps in documentation.
- With support, develop materials to fill gaps in existing documentation on Solar Sister programs.
- Organize and compile all materials into a single location accessible to all Solar Staff.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in International Development, Sustainability, Business Administration, Program Management, or a related field. Recent graduates are also welcome to apply.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience in program management or development programming.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, etc.) and Google Apps (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for Solar Sister’s mission of empowering women and increasing access to clean energy.
Time Commitment: 30 hours / week
