About the Organization:

The World Council of Churches is a global fellowship of 256 national Protestant and Orthodox churches present in 120 countries, with a total membership of about 600 million - worldwide. The WCC is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and was founded in 1948. The WCC works on Ecumenism, mission, evangelism and unity on one hand and on the other hand it works on almost all the 17 SDGs and beyond. WCC has been actively addressing about Climate Change and care for creation from 1970s, much before the Earth Summit or the formation of the UNFCCC.

Position Description: 

1.Support capacity building on legal action for climate justice
2.Develop engaging advocacy and communication materials for social media promoting WCC's new handbook
for legal action with focus on financial actors
3. Support advocacy on the importance of Climate-Responsible Banking as a Moral Imperative towards
Children.
4.Support knowledge management for legal action project with focus on the role of financiers of new
fossil fuel expansion
5. Support research on the mental health impact of the climate emergency on children and youth
6. Supporting other WCC projects as needed


Desired Qualifications:

- Communication skills and creativity for powerful innovative engagement on complex issues (popularisation of climate litigation)
- Data management
- Writing skills
- Experience in climate solutions development
- Legal knowledge would be an asset


Time Commintment: 28 hours / week
