Mahashri Ranjith Kumar

Mahashri Ranjith Kumar (she/her) is an Electronics and Computer Engineering student at the University of Leeds, with a passion for using technology to tackle environmental challenges.

Her interest in climate began through water, where she developed and published research on a low-cost filtration system for communities without reliable access to clean water. The project was recognised at the Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition, where she was honoured as the National Water Champion of India. She has also written numerous articles about climate and sustainability, further deepening her commitment to the field. In parallel, she built Sahaayam, a microcontroller-based medicine dispenser deployed across multiple rural communities to reduce medical access gaps.

Since then, her work has expanded across engineering, climate advocacy, and public engagement. She is a Core Team member at Youth STEM 2030, has spoken at the United Nations COP26 and COP28, and serves as Chief Electronic Engineer for Project ORION at the University of Leeds. Alongside her leadership work, she builds reliable software systems, including her work as a Production Engineering Fellow with Meta x MLH and projects such as Clima, an AI-powered climate literacy platform designed to make climate education more engaging.

She is particularly interested in building technologies that combine AI, resilient digital infrastructure, and interdisciplinary collaboration to create equitable, scalable climate solutions.
