Katie Carlson
Katie Carlson (she/her) is an analytical and creative researcher who is passionate about supporting climate justice through data-driven policies and actions. She recently received her Master's in Climate Change and Sustainable Development from the University of Cape Town, where her research used geospatial analysis to quantify the impacts of sea level rise in coastal heritage sites and explored the impact of climate-driven heritage loss through an anthropological lens. Katie brings a systems thinking, detail-oriented approach to solving climate challenges. She has sat at the intersection of science and policy to fuel energy efficiency standards with the U.S. Department of Energy, inform geographically targeted interventions with USAID, and conduct grassroots agricultural outreach with the Peace Corps.
As a fellow with the World Council of Churches, Katie will be leveraging data science, creative visualizations, and community-centered storytelling to drive positive change at the nexus of food, water, and land use.
