Hi, my name is Karen (she/her/they/them) and I’m a graduate from San Jose State University in Environmental Studies. During my time in undergrad, I’ve always wanted to combine my passion for creativity, storytelling, and advocacy.

After graduation, I stumbled upon non-profit organizations. I served as an AmeriCorps member for Our City Forest and picked up another non-profit, SFBBO, where I volunteered to edit their podcasts “Birdy Hours”. After the AmeriCorps term ended, I volunteered for SFBBO and Turtle Up to utilize my digital skills through video editing and graphic design.

As I’m navigating professionally, I discovered that the theme of all these experiences and skills I have intersect where I feel that I’m helping making a difference in communities no matter how big or small. I’m eternally grateful to being accepted for the fellowship and ecstatic to grow alongside like-minded peers.

One of my lifelong goals is to help conserve, protect, and save planet Earth. I truly believe that causing a ripple effect starts with many individuals coming together with their unique perspectives, skills, and walks in life to reach a common goal.
