Ghea Sandrine Mawen

Ghea Sandrine Mawen (she/her) is a data scientist and AI engineer based in Kigali, Rwanda, passionate about AI for good and sustainable development, particularly in building climate-resilient food systems across Africa. She holds a Master of Science in Engineering Artificial Intelligence from Carnegie Mellon University Africa. As a Data Science Fellow with GanzAfrica, she led the development of an analytics dashboard for Rwanda’s National Land Authority, transforming over 5.2 million land records into insights that support land governance and climate-resilient agricultural planning. She is an alumna of the UN Food Systems Youth Leadership Programme and volunteers as Data, AI & Strategic Foresight Lead for the World Food Forum Rwanda Chapter, supporting youth-led innovation in agriculture and climate.

Known for her collaborative spirit, curiosity, and ability to bring people together around a shared vision, Ghea believes technology creates lasting impact only when it is paired with empathy and genuine community connection. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking for the people she loves, experimenting with new recipes, dancing, and spending quality time with family. She is excited to join this cohort and looks forward to learning from fellow cohort members, collaborating with mission-driven organizations, and growing into a better version of herself.
