Shimeng Zhu
I am a graduate student at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, pursuing my second Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management with a focus on Ocean and Coastal Resource Management. With a background in interpretation and translation, I bring strong communication skills to my passion for science communication. I enjoy transforming complex scientific concepts into accessible, engaging stories. This past summer, I interned at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, where I built StoryMaps for the Adopt-A-Float program, deepening my interest in deep-sea conservation and digital storytelling. I aim to continue developing as a science communicator by gaining experience across environmental fields and creating digital content that conveys the urgency and interconnectedness of today’s environmental challenges.
