Alex Webster

Alex Webster is an internationally recognized environmental researcher, sustainability advocate, and youth leader dedicated to advancing marine conservation through scientific innovation and public engagement. A John V. Lombardi Scholar at the University of Florida Honors Program, Alex is majoring in Marine Science to earn a combined Bachelor's and Master's degree, striving to pursue a PhD in Marine Ecotoxicology. Alex’s research trajectory has focused on understanding and addressing human impacts on marine systems, leading him to collaborations with cutting-edge institutions such as the Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Recognizing that conservation requires both science and people, he founded My Pet Mangrove, a youth-led nonprofit advancing coastal restoration and environmental literacy. Under his leadership, the organization mobilized hundreds of volunteers, restored vital mangrove habitat, and empowered K–12 students to become active stewards of their local ecosystems. Alex has been invited to speak around the world as a leading youth voice in marine sustainability, advocating for ocean protection, science-based decision-making, and equitable access to research opportunities. His expertise has informed environmental policy through testimony before local and state legislatures, and he regularly addresses educators, policymakers, and students on the power of youth-driven science. Through research, advocacy, and mentorship, Alex Webster continues to redefine youth leadership—demonstrating that transformative environmental solutions can begin at any age.
