Zerin Osho
Director of the India Program at Institute For Governance & Sustainable Development
Zerin Osho is the Director of the India Program at Institute For Governance & Sustainable Development (IGSD) where she is leading the development and implementation of IGSD’s subnational work on fast mitigation of non-CO2 emissions. Her work focuses on developing subnational and national inventories of non-CO₂ emissions in India, advancing novel accounting methodologies for integrating these emissions into market mechanisms, building investible project pipelines for fast mitigation, and supporting efforts to preserve the cryosphere.
Before joining IGSD, Zerin was seconded to the International Solar Alliance (ISA), where she served as Coordinator for the United Nations General Assembly and led the development and launch of ISA’s seventh Work Programme on Solarizing Heating and Cooling Systems. Prior to ISA, she served as Special Advisor to the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Mr. Erik Solheim, where she supported the development and launch of the UN’s Cool Coalition, an international platform promoting energy-efficient and Kigali Amendment–compliant cooling solutions.
Zerin is currently an Affiliate with the Energy Analysis and Environmental Impacts Divisionat Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) in California and serves on the Board of AI for the Planet. She has over a decade of experience working at the intersection of government, international policy, and climate action. Zerin is trained as a lawyer and holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She was awarded the prestigious Legislative Assistant to Member of Parliament (LAMP) Fellowship in 2015.
